ABOUT THE AUTHOR
GILL DYE
During the 1980s and early 90s, Gill fronted the post-punk gothic rock band; SHARK TABOO. Over the course of a decade, Shark Taboo released four albums and toured tirelessly, earning a reputation for their magnetic stage presence and a dedicated cult following. The group performed across Europe, from London to Berlin and Reykjavik, showcasing at the legendary South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas in 1989.
The band experienced a digital renaissance as new audiences discovered their sound via modern remixes; hits like ‘Sweet Pain’ and ‘Touch & Glow’ have surpassed 50,000 downloads. Their track ‘Believe’, produced by Adam James, also saw massive success upon its March 2026 re-release with 50,000 streams so far!
Following the tragic passing of their lead guitarist in 1994, the band parted ways, leading Gill into the world of theatre; founding Exit Theatre Company in Croydon and writing, directing and performing in productions throughout the 1990s and 2000s. One career highlight was meeting the late Sir Terry Pratchett, who coached her in portraying his much-loved character Granny Weatherwax on stage.
Merging her history as a rock vocalist with a lifelong fascination with the supernatural, Gill penned the original manuscript for SIGHT OF DEATH in the late 90s! So it is genuinely RETRO!!
Today, Gill resides in the peaceful Kent countryside, sharing her home with her husband, Graham. Alongside writing, she can usually be found riding her beloved horse, walking her dog and spending time with family and friends.
